Helping Hands are Better than Praying Lips!
It was a busy day in a bustling suburb, and I was waiting for my bus to Worli. As soon as it arrived, the crowd surged forward, pushing and scrambling to get in. Amid the rush, I reached for my purse to buy a ticket—only to realize it was gone. Stolen. Panic set in. I had no money, and tears began to roll down my cheeks.
Just then, a kind man walked up to me and gently offered me a handful of change. I hesitated, trying to refuse. But he smiled warmly and said, “Take it, my child. You remind me of my daughter—you’ll need this more than I do right now.”
When I asked how I could ever repay his kindness, he simply replied, “Help someone else in need, just like I did... Because helping hands are better than praying lips!
When I found myself in above situation, what stood out to me most was the person who offered a helping hand. There were plenty of people around, yet only one chose to step forward. He helped me without knowing who I was, where I came from, or whether I’d ever be able to return the favor.
We all live fast-paced lives, constantly navigating different phases: growth, setbacks, milestones. Highs and lows are part of our human experience. But do we ever stop to think about how we bounce back? What helps us push through tough times? What gives us the strength to carry on?
Often, it’s the helping hands we encounter along the way that lift us up. We’re surrounded by support, even when we don’t always see it. And sometimes, the people who go beyond offering thoughts and prayers, those who take real action are the ones who truly make a difference. From childhood to adulthood, our parents provide for both our emotional and physical needs. Teachers pass on wisdom. Siblings encourage us to explore new paths. Naturally, we wish to give back in return. But the truth is, genuine help can't really be repaid not just because of the act itself, but because of its timing. Time, once given, can never be returned and sometimes, it arrives at exactly the moment we need it most.
Only loved ones care??
Well, not always.
Alongside the care we receive from our loved ones, there are times when strangers step in to help us too. Life brings us in contact with all kinds of people, each with their own motives and paths. Among them, there are those who offer help simply because they care driven by genuine kindness and empathy. Without these helping hands, it’s hard to imagine how we’d make it through some of life’s toughest moments.
Think about it struggles like running low on money, losing a job, failing an important exam, or facing health challenges. These situations can shake us emotionally and mentally. During such times, seeking support isn’t just okay it’s necessary. But it’s also important to reach out to the right person, someone who truly understands and is willing to help.
Hands that give,
help us live
Have you ever felt something like this?
I’ve lived through many situations where the kindness of helping hands got me through some of the darkest times. Whether it was parents, teachers, mentors, students, friends, or even strangers each played a role. I’m deeply grateful for all of them. In those moments when I felt stuck and helpless, their support gave me the strength to see things in a new, more hopeful light. Truly, helping hands speak louder than praying lips, they offer real hope when everything feels uncertain. After all, nothing is permanent. We overcome life’s hardest moments with the quiet support of those I call angel investors. It reminds us that helping and uplifting others should be one of our life’s goals.
Don’t expect anything in return
Helping others without expecting anything back says everything about who we are. In today’s world, it’s often easier to find surface beauty than it is to find a genuinely good character. But that kind of character - pure, selfless- can be taught and passed down. We must teach the next generation that true help means giving without conditions. When we help others, we shape ourselves into better human beings. And what do we get in return? Not money, not favors just blessings. And those blessings are powerful enough to keep the cycle of goodness going.
Mother Teresa’s words ring true: “Helping hands are better than praying lips.” True compassion isn’t always easy. But kindness has a way of circling back. Karma is real. So whenever you can, lend a hand because what goes around comes around ππππ

To connect with others experiences like yours even tho being from different walk of life like myself really puts the articles context to real lifee ✨
